I have looked at the thread some ten thousand times.
A thread binds two people.
Yet it is always one of them who pulls.
People ask me how many points they score with someone. I don't give scores. There is nothing you can do with a 78 once you walk out the door. A good number lets you relax, a bad one makes you anxious, and neither tells you what to do differently tomorrow.
There is always a thread between two people, and one of them is pulling it. The one who reaches out first, who reads the other's mood first, who gives in first. That is not a bad thing. But if no one knows who is pulling, the one pulling wears out and the one receiving never notices.
I read how tight the thread is, and in which years it goes slack. I will write down why that person acts the way they do, what you are misreading, and what to do so the thread does not break.
I only read the thread that binds two people.
I do not blame anyone.
Step two
Write down both of your birthdays.
I ask nothing else.
